Topic: Nuclear Weapon-Free Zone in the Middle East

The General Assembly,

Reminding all nations that Iran and Syria as well are attempting to find a peaceful solution for the problems in the Middle East and that both Syria and Iran have signed the NPT,

Noting that the current crisis in the Middle East involves both issues on nuclear weapons and militaristic religious groups,

Stressing the fact that a lot of the tension in the Middle East is caused by the presence of Western and NATO weapons in the region,

1. Calls for the removal of Western and NATO weapons from the Middle East;

2. Promotes a peaceful nuclear weapon-free zone in the Middle East;

3. Encourages Israel to sign on as a member of the NPT

4. Notes that if this resolution were to be passed Syria and Iran both agree to distance themselves from militaristic groups such as Hezbollah.
